Spalding Rotary is making the best use of old and new as it tries to give a big pay day to local good causes.
The old comes in on Saturday as Rotarians have a float in the 55th and last ever Spalding Flower Parade, when they will be joined by Spalding Music School.
New for this year is the chance to donate by text or online.
To give a pound, text LIPS £1 to 70070 – Two Lips will get your quid plus 25p if you respond to the gift aid reply.
You can donate more by changing the sum after the word ‘LIPS’.
Online donations go to www.justgiving.com/twolips
Good causes benefiting from Two Lips are St Barnabas Hospice Spalding, Spalding Age UK, Spalding St John Ambulance and the town’s two swimming clubs.
The Two Lips fundraising week runs from May 11-18 although fundraising has started and will go on after the special week.
Rotary will have a stall with musicians performing alongside at Spalding’s Market on May 11 and there’s a big car boot the following day at Moulton Chapel Road, just off the A16 Cowbit roundabout, when booters’ cars are welcome at 7am (pitches £5) and the public at 8am.
There’s an Indian meal at Indus, in Winsover Road, Spalding, on May 14 and £6 from the £15 ticket price will go to Two Lips.
Tickets at £7.50 are available from the Spalding Guardian office in The Crescent, Spalding, for our quiz at St Norbert’s on May 17 – fish and chips are included. We are still looking for more raffle prizes so please call 01775 765420 if you can help.
The UK’s best Abba tribute band appear at a glittering ball at Spalding’s Castle Sports Complex on May 18. Tickets at £35 from 01775 720607.
Rotary president Andy Prior said: “We now have 200 people coming to the ball and it’s all set to be a great event.”
