IT was workers’ playtime on Sunday as the Princes food group factory at Long Sutton was taken over by live bands and a big fun fair.
Around 3,000 people – employees and their families from the company’s canning sites at Long Sutton and Wisbech – enjoyed a day of free treats.
There was music from The Soft Tone Needles and The Wild Boys as well as some major fairground favourites, including the big wheel, dodgems and golden gallopers.
Cynthia Dowers, a member of the organising committee, said everything is free on the day – except alcohol – as a thank you to employees.
She said: “It’s a thank you for their hard work during the year, especially during the garden pea season.”
Sunday’s event was the eighth employees’ fun day. The factories were previously owned by Premier Foods.
