This is the moment an elderly woman came within inches of being wiped out on a pavement in Spalding by a youth texting on his bicycle.

Screams from a local pub owner standing nearby in New Road alerted the rider who braked and managed to stop just in time.

According to Coun Pete Williams, who was stood outside the Punchbowl pub, this was one of the latest in a rising number of anti-social behaviour incidents taking place in the town.

He said: “Anti-social behaviour in the town centre is a huge problem.

“If I hadn’t been outside and spotted that rider the pensioner could have been seriously hurt.

“Holding onto one handlebar and texting with the other shows complete disregard to other people.

“But I caught him on CCTV and it’s time people knew.”
