A PRIMARY school choir showed off the skills that won them an area-wide competition by holding a concert for parents and governors.

Bourne Westfield School put on the show to mark its success in the Rotary Club’s district based choir competition, held in Melton Mowbray.

Joe Sunner, president of the Rotary Club of Bourne, attended to present a plaque, as did Liz Lenton, the regional director of Sing Up, who presented the platinum award recognising the quality of the singing work.

Headteacher Tim Bright said: “We are very proud of what the children have achieved, under the inspired guidance of our music coordinator Becky Beavis.

“The singing is beautiful and one or two of the more poignant songs moved people to tears. I was humming the tunes all day.”
