Gusts of 54mph have been recorded in Holbeach as strong southerly winds sweep the region.
Winds are expected to veer westerly this afternoon and increase further, with severe gales likely.
Police have been warning motorists to take care after the unpleasant weather conditions in South Holland were flagged up by CCTV volunteers in Spalding.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning across Lincolnshire, meaning the public should be aware of the potential for difficult driving conditions and some minor disruption.
A spokesman said: “A deep area of low pressure is expected to track north eastwards across the Irish Sea and then northern England during Monday afternoon.
“There is some uncertainty over the track and intensity of this system, but there is the potential for some very strong winds on its southern flank.”
Gusts of 50-60 mph are likely inland, whilst gusts of 70-80 mph are possible across exposed locations.
