Spalding & District Round Table has donated a people carrier to The Pennygate Foundation to help overcome the problem of social isolation.
However, in order to get more people to the centre the foundation needs volunteer drivers who can spare an hour or two – a normal driving licence is all that is required.
In fact, Brenda would like to hear from anyone who has time to spare to help with any of the many and varied activities going on at the centre, such as the amateur dramatics group that is being planned.
The Pennygate Foundation offers basic training to become a recognised Lincolnshire volunteer and a free two-day course is being held on Friday, October 16 and Friday, October 23 – contact Brenda on 01775 421001 to book.
The centre was given a five-star rating in the district council’s food hygiene awards. Volunteers have all been trained in basic food hygiene and towards a certificate for waiters/waitresses.
The Pennygate Foundation is Sainsbury’s Charity of the Year. Brenda says: “We are very grateful to all the people who donate food that we hand out to people in need.”
