A BURLESQUE dancer who performs an act in which she transforms from Mikado into the voluptuous Carmen seems an unlikely performer for a concert for older people.
However, Leonie Soprano was a hit at the Age UK concert organised by Spalding Rotary Club and run this year by Richard Thacker.
Over 300 people enjoyed the concert at South Holland Centre in Spalding, entertained by Spalding Folk Club, local comedian Derek Tomlin, The Mad Tappers and Polka Dot Academy.
In addition, 30 members of the cast of Fiddler on the Roof, the performance being staged by SADOS in May, performed.
John Syson, chairman of the organising committee, said: “The one everybody comes for every year is the comedian Patrick Burke and I thought the soloist in Fiddler on the Roof was superb too.”
Spalding Rotary Club pays for the hall, the acts all perform for free and individual senior citizens’ clubs organise transport for their members.
