Surge tides predicted for today and tomorrow are now thought unlikely to affect Sutton Bridge.

Information given to the Spalding Guardian suggests the tides will impact in the Cromer area rather than our coastline.

• Residents of Sutton Bridge are bracing themselves for possible surge tides after 3pm today (Tuesday) and again at around 6am tomorrow.

Parish councillor Jenny Rowe, who lives on the banks of the Nene, says the Met Office is estimating the tide might only be a metre less than the December 5 high tide – the day a surge threatened to overtop the banks.
