UPDATE: Fatal crash victim named

Wednesday, 1.30pm: THE elderly woman who died when her car collided with a car transporter on the A16 has been named.

Celia Posey (78), of Packhorse Lane, Swineshead, died at the scene of the collision yesterday afternoon.

An inquest into her death is expected to be opened and adjourned tomorrow.

Wednesday, 8.30am: THE name of an elderly woman killed in yesterday’s crash on the A16 is expected to be released later today. She was the only occupant of a car involved in a collision with a car transporter at about 1.50pm yesterday.

A stretch of the road between Surfleet and Spalding was closed until 6.30pm.

Tuesday, 5.30pm: A WOMAN was killed in the crash on the A16 between Spalding and Surfleet today. Police have confirmed a driver died in the collision, which involved a car and a Volvo car transporter.

Tuesday, 2pm: MOTORISTS are being advised the avoid the A16 between Spalding and Surfleet following a serious crash. The road is currently closed in both directions because of the incident, which is believed to involve a car and a lorry.

Emergency services have confirmed they were called to the scene just before 1.50pm. It is believed to involve serious injuries.

Police say the road may be closed for some time.
