BALLOONIST Gary Davies flew a trio of excited passengers from Baytree Garden Centre in Weston on an hour long flight to Tydd St Giles on Tuesday.

The trip was the top raffle prize from last year’s Baytree Clothes Show and winner Sarah Gardner made the flight with the aptly named Nick Bird and Baytree clothing department manager Helen Brooks.

Helen said: “I am terrified of heights and we were flying at 4,500 ft.

“But it was very peaceful and it was an amazing flight.”

Helen said they could clearly see everything on the ground as they sailed above homes in Weston, Moulton, Whaplode, Holbeach and Sutton St James before touching down.

Gary’s ground crew followed the balloon and gave everyone a lift back to Baytree.

This year’s Baytree Clothes Show – which raises money for Spalding and Holbeach Macmillan Cancer Support – takes place on September 15. Tickets cost £3.50 and are available from Baytree on 01406 370242 or online.

The airborne theme continues as this year’s star raffle prize is a flying lesson from Holbeach St Johns Flying School. For those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground, there’s also a chance to win a family photographic portrait.
