SPALDING and Holbeach Macmillan Cancer Support had their eyes on the skies as 5,500 balloons soared into the mid blue yonder over Weston.
The charity fundraisers organised a balloon race and hopes to raise around £4,200 to continue their vital work for people living with cancer and their families.
Volunteers spent a busy day at Baytree Garden Centre preparing the balloons – all in the charity’s colours – in a greenhouse. At 4pm garden centre boss Reinhard Biehler opened the greenhouse vents and the race was on.
Macmillan committee member Mick Reeve thanked the many supporters, business and individuals who supported the event. A £200 prize will go to the race winder and £50 to the balloon finder.
