Two chart-topping acts coming to Spalding

Big Country.
Big Country.

A regular update on what’s happening at South Holland Centre in Spalding.

After a rockin’ ‘n’ rousing concert from Andy Fairweather Low last week, what better time to let you know about two further chart-topping acts coming to the South Holland Centre soon?

Remember the early ’80s smash hit Just What I’ve Always Wanted – sung by a sultry lady with skyscraper beehive hair? Well that was Mari Wilson, and since her ’80s fame she has made singing her life’s work with a busy schedule of concerts and tours – including the sell-out ‘Girl Talk’ show with Barb Jungr and Claire Martin which visited the South Holland Centre back in 2006. Influenced by the music she loved and listened to during her formative years, Mari’s passion eventually led to her playing Dusty Springfield on the hugely successful ‘Dusty The Musical’ UK tour.

Now, Mari launches a brand new show ‘Ready Steady Girls’ in which songs from a plethora of her musical heroines (including Dusty, Petula and Cilla) are interspersed with stories of her personal and hilarious journey through life.

Mari performs ‘Ready Steady Girls’ at the South Holland Centre on Friday, September 18 at 8pm and tickets, priced at £16.50, £15.50 concessions, are on sale now.

Meanwhile, another group that exploded onto the 1980s music scene were Scottish band Big Country, who enjoyed massive success with hits such as Big Country and Look Away. One of the most exciting live bands of their generation, Big Country continue to headline their own huge concerts and tours, as well as supporting the likes of The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Robert Plant, and Queen.

They visit us as part of their nationwide ‘Best Of’ tour on Saturday, October 31. With nearly 200 tickets sold for this concert already, we urge anyone planning to come along to book their tickets as soon as possible. Tickets are £24.50 from the Box Office 01775 764777 or our website www.southhollandcentre.co.uk .
