Armed Forces Celebration Day is being held on Sunday, July 3 at the Anglia Motel, Fleet Hargate (11am-4pm).
Tulip Radio has been working in conjunction with the Ministry of Defence to celebrate the lives and continued work of our local veterans and Armed Forces personnel and their families.
We have been trying to contact as many veterans as we can who have not yet received their Ministry of Defence Armed Forces Veterans Badge.
To qualify for this award you must have served in the Armed Forces at some time in the last 70 years. It is a condition that you complete the necessary paperwork which is available from Tulip Radio and those who have done so will be presented with these unique badges and a special certificate provided by John Hayes MP at the beginning of the event.
Entrance is free to veterans and their partner or carer and the day will begin with the presentation of the badges, followed by a buffet lunch provided by Harold Payne – there is a charge of £5 to those who are not veterans and partners or carers.
A full programme of events has been organised, including period music and singing, and a much loved TV programme is being brought back to life with help from two veterans and their wives, demonstrating the privations of a war time diet.
There will also be a chance to refresh your memory of war time events and facts, and a prize will be awarded for the team with the best memory. A military vehicle display will be there all day including Harold Payne’s popular Mobile War Museum, and jeep rides will be offered in return for a small donation to the Armed Forces charities.
All veterans interested in this event are asked to contact Tulip Radio by telephoning 01775 712400 requesting a free event ticket for entry and lunch.
