As well as keeping the community in touch on air and online, Tulip Radio offers training in broadcasting and IT skills, which includes offering work experience to pupils at South Holland’s schools.
Tom Paul joined us for two weeks from a local school, learning what goes on at the studios of a community radio station and getting to grips with website editing software.
Tom (pictured) is a Year 10 pupil at Thomas Cowley High School, Donington, with a strong interest in the media. Fifteen-year-old Tom picked Tulip Radio for his work experience placement because he saw it as an opportunity to develop his knowledge of media, speech and language.
Working at Tulip Radio complements his studies in Performing Art as he works towards his BTEC qualification.
Tom worked on a range of IT tasks from email to helping keep our music database in order and we saw his work really evolve over the time he was with us.
He got to work on show preparation and website projects and we have to say he had the right attitude to work, and fitted in with the team well. Good luck for the future, Tom!
