The prince and princess appointed as part of the inaugural Tulip Mania Festival have been busy officiating in the community all year.

The latest outing for Joseph Porter and Georgia van Dyke was to the House of Commons at the invitation of John Hayes MP, one of the competition judges. The youngsters enjoyed a tour, hearing some of the debates, and had a potted history of parliament before having tea with the MP.

Also invited were the finalists from the Tulip Queen contest. Although reigning Tulip Queen Amy Cook was unable to attend her deputy Kimberley Fisher and fellow finalists all went.

This year’s Tulip Mania festival is currently being organised in conjunction with Jan Whitbourn of Tulip Radio and David Norton of Springfields. Entries for the prince and princess are being sought for the competition on Saturday, May 2 at Springfields Events Centre. Amy Cook will be at Tulip Mania and a new Tulip Queen will be appointed as part of Spalding’s Christmas Light Switch On in November. There are many prizes on offer and we already have several entries for both events.
