THE family of a Pode Hole pensioner killed in a road crash on Sunday have paid tribute to “a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather”.
Frederick Stone (81, pictured) died in the accident at about 4.30pm on the A52 at Swineshead when his Kia Picanto collided with a Mitsubishi L200 pick-up near Bicker Bar roundabout.
His wife – whose first name has not been released by police – is making steady progress in Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital after first being described as “critical” with multiple fractures.
The family’s tribute to Mr Stone says: “He was a kind man who was popular with neighbours and friends and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
“The family would like to thank all well-wishers for their support and kindness at this difficult time and ask the media for privacy to grieve.”
The driver of the Mitsubishi, a woman from the Horncastle area, was checked over at Pilgrim but not detained.
