Two-car crash on A151 create lengthy delays

A day of mayhem on South Holland’s roads continued on Thursday lunchtime when two cars crashed on the A151 just outside Spalding.

Traffic queues formed for two hours near the McDonald’s restaurant where an Audi A3 and Ford Focus collided at about 12.55pm.

Police closed the A151 at the A16 junction while firemen used hydraulic cutting gear to free a woman from the Audi and make the Focus safe, but there were no serious injuries.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “Officers arrived on scene and closed the immediate vicinity to traffic, but no serious injuries were sustained and the road was reopened again by 3.30pm.”

Black Thursday carried over into the early hours of Friday morning when a Kia Picanto and Vauxhall Zafira collided on Market Place, Long Sutton.

Firemen were called just after 2.35am to make the cars safe and clear up a a small amount of oil and water on the road, but there was no report of any injuries.
