WORK to waterproof a busy Spalding bridge is expected to take ten weeks.

Lincolnshire County Council contractors started work on Fulney Bridge on July 11 and are estimating that the repairs will be done by September 16.

Traffic using Holbeach Road is being controlled by two-way lights while the work is done.

Most of the work is to be done during the school summer holidays in a bid to minimise disruption.

The council has been praised for the way it is managing the works.

One motorist said: “I use that road every day and the most I’ve had to wait at the lights is about five minutes. There have only ever been about four or five cars in the queue when I’ve joined it in either direction.

”The council seems to be managing the situation well.”
