BREAKING NEWS FRIDAY 7.30PM: A second pensioner from Spalding, this time an 87-year-old woman, has died after a crash on the A17 just two days after Christmas.

The woman was travelling in a Renault Clio which left the road at Fulbeck, between Sleaford and Newark-on-Trent, at about 12.25pm last Saturday.

She was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham, but died this morning.

The driver of the Renault, the woman’s 84-year-old husband, suffered less serious injuries and has been discharged from hospital.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said the woman’s name won’t be released until other family members have been informed.

BREAKING NEWS FRIDAY 7PM: An 83-year-old man from Spalding airlifted to hospital after a two-car crash near the A17 on New Year’s Eve has died, police have confirmed tonight.

The man was driving a silver Peugeot 206 which collided with a white Ford Fiesta on the B1397 Spalding Road at about 1.40pm on Wednesday.

Doctors at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham, were treating the man for multiple injuries after he was airlifted to hospital by Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

The man’s name won’t be released until his family has beenm informed.

Spalding Road was closed for five hours while emergency services attended the scene and the cars were recovered.

The driver of the Fiesta wasn’t seriously injured.
