Pair of accidents bring rush-hour pain in South Holland

BREAKING NEWS 9.30AM: A car has collided with a tractor carrying vegetables that spilt on a road in the Surfleet area this morning.

The accident happened on the A16 just outside the village just after 8am and the road was blocked for about 30 minutes.

There were no injuries and the road was cleared by about 8.30am.

Meanwhile, a broken-down lorry is causing delays on the A16 between Spalding and Cowbit with diversions in operation.

It happened near the Cowbit roundabout at about 8am and led to traffic queues in both directions between the A1175 Cowbit Road and B1357 Moulton Chapel Road while the lorry is being recovered.

Today’s accidents come after two on Monday, including one on James Road, Crowland, where a Honda Civic, Fiat Puntu and Alfa Romeo, although it is unclear whether there were any injuries.

The other accident happened at the junction of the Hardwick Estate and Boston Road, Kirton, where a Renault Traffic and Vauxhall Vectra taxi collided, leaving a boy (9) from Spalding with a bruised knee and a man (70) from Boston with a fractured bone in his ribs.
