NEW screens have been installed to keep passengers at Spalding Railway Station up to date with electronic timetable information.
The screens are on each platform and in the waiting area. Campaigners say rail operator East Midlands Trains has agreed to use noise reduction technology for the announcements made through the machines – so residents in the Park Road area are not disturbed.
Spalding and Peterborough Transport Forum Chairman George Scott said: “We have been fighting for this for two years.”
Mr Scott also recently met Network Rail bosses and MP John Hayes in Westminster to discuss rail matters.
He will have further meetings and hopes the Government will commit to putting a pledge to stop at Littleworth Halt, if it is re-opened, into the new franchise when East Midlands Trains’ contract ends in 2014.
The forum will hold a meeting at South Holland District Council’s offices in Priory Road, Spalding at 7.30pm tonight.
