Drivers coming from the Deepings into Spalding came up against yet another level crossing failure in Deeping St Nicholas on Thursday.
Barriers at Littleworth level crossing on the A1175 Littleworth Drove had to be operated manually after what a Network Rail spokesman described as an “axle counters failure” just before 7.25am.
The barriers were put under manual operation which allowed road traffic to safely pass over the crossingNetwork Rail spokesman
The fault is the third at Littleworth in as many months and the sixth on the Spalding to Peterborough train line since a £280 million upgrade was completed last November.
“The axle counters failed and both our response teams and British Transport Police were informed and responded as quickly as possible,” the spokesman said.
“The barriers were put under local control, basically manual operation, by one of our staff which allowed road traffic to safely pass over the crossing and the fault was fully rectified shortly after 11am.
“We apologise for the inconvenience this caused.”
