Update, 11.30am - The railway crossing at Pinchbeck’s Cherry Holt Lane will be closed to rail and road traffic for most of today (Tuesday) while workmen replace a rail damaged in this morning’s accident. Train operators are putting on buses between Sleaford and Spalding.

Tuesday, 10am – A tractor trailer straddling the railway track in Pinchbeck has forced the temporary closure of the line.

The incident happened this morning at Cherry Holt Lane at around 8am. It’s believed a crop sprayer became uncoupled from the tractor unit as it passed over a level crossing.

Early indications are that there might be damage to the track.

It’s unclear how long the closure might be in place or what the effect will be on services on the line between Peterborough and Lincoln, which includes Spalding.
