A collision involving a car and truck in Spalding left a person hurt yesterday.

It happened on Parkway at about 8.15am when a Vauxhall Corsa and DAF truck collided, partially blocking the junction of Horseshoe Road and Hawthorn Bank.

The Corsa driver, a 21-year-old man from Spalding, was taken to Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, but is thought to have only suffered a minor injury.

Meanwhile, more details have emerged about a road crash in Long Sutton that was attended by firemen despite a four-hour strike on Wednesday.

An 84-year-old man driving a Ford Fiesta left the road and ended up in a ditch just after 1.20pm.

He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King’s Lynn, as a precaution but he wasn’t seriously injured.
