MOTORISTS are currently being diverted off one of South Holland’s busy roads because of a “dangerous” lamppost.
A section of the A151 at Whaplode has been closed while workmen can be called out to deal with a lamppost which has been hit by a car.
The Citroen Saxo struck it at about 2.30pm this afternoon.
Police say no one has been seriously injured but an 80-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the car, has been checked over by paramedics.
Officers say the lamppost is considered to be dangerous in its current state.
Diversions are currently in place along East Gate and Sholts Gate.
The road is expected to be closed until about 5pm.
