A woman who fell into a river while walking her dog in Spalding today was taken to hospital by road, it has been confirmed.

The woman was helped out of the river by firefighters after she fell into the River Welland along London Road at about 2.40pm.

A Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance helicopter was called out shortly afterwards and a spokesman said: “We arrived on the scene in 17 minutes and assisted the land ambulance.

“We returned to base at 3.38pm and did not airlift the patient to hospital.”

WEDNESDAY 3.45PM: Woman in hospital after river rescue

A woman is being checked over in hospital after falling in a river while out in Spalding today.

Emergency services were called to London Road where the woman was reported to have fallen into the River Welland while walking her dog at about 2.40pm.

Police, firefighters and a Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance helicopter went to the scene but the woman is not believed to be seriously injured.
