Road closed for tree work
A BUSY road will be closed this Sunday while tree felling work is carried out.
Spalding’s Pinchbeck Road will be closed at the south side of its junction for half of the day and at the north side for the other half.
The traffic lights will be turned off at the junction between 7.30am and 5pm and a diversion will be in place via Park Road, Winsover Road, Station Approach, King’s Road and Pinchbeck Road.
The work will pave the way for junction improvements after the town’s flower parade in May.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 10:34 AMOn the face of it it's the same problem that the improvements at Woolram Wygate fixed - a backlog of cars turning right holding up the rest that want to go straight on except that there isn't a steady flow of cars coming the other way at this junction, that flow is nicely interrupted by the WW lights. Remove the hold up caused by the right turn filter and traffic can simply find it's way across in the gaps (no different to most other junctions). A wider right turn lane will help alleviate the problem, but it was a false problem in the first place.

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 11:25 PMpeekachoo - there are already long queues down West Elloe, I can vouch for that. sometimes queued back to the entrance to the fire station. It's the tailback in Pinchbeck Road that is the problem - only caused by adding the green filter light. you only have to have 2 cars and a bus waiting to turn right into West Elloe from Pinchbeck Road and the road is blocked for those wanting to go straight ahead towards Pinchbeck. Because of them not removing the filter light, they are now removing trees to make way for a longer lane. Not necessary - just get rid of the right turn green filter light. It's not rocket science. At least FENLANDER knows what I am talking about.

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 10:37 PMThe filter causes the tailbacks, they weren't there before the lights were changed.

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 05:06 PMThere are road signs up in the area warning of road closures, this is surely good for the locals and those who use this road most days, so they can avoid the area. The green filter arrow is a necessity or there would be long queues down West Elloe Ave too. People seem to be in such a hurry these days and very rarely give way, which is another reason these filter arrows are so important.

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 03:03 PMfenlander - yes it seems like pedestrians and cyclists will be fair game. The junction will not be improved. I think I will have expert knowledge and be able to judge this as I live in West Elloe Avenue, towards the same end as this junction. They should never have put in a green right turn filter on Pinchbeck Road (which has only caused major tailbacks to Kings Road). Remove this filter light and problem solved. Or better still, build one of those round things that are scarce in Spalding - think they are called roundabouts!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 12:30 PMIIRC the kerb was raised to prevent large vehicles mounting the pavement and running over pedestrians & cyclists, are they now fair game again?

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 12:25 PM"Spalding’s Pinchbeck Road will be closed at the south side of its junction for half of the day and at the north side for the other half." Which junction would this be then? It always amused me to read adverts in newspapers and magazines for services, cars etc. that failed to mention location. That's really a quite important piece of information. I had an email this morning linking to a website for a local camping and fishing site. The website doesn't give a clue as to where it might be apart from Lincolnshire, somewhere near Spalding and Boston. I think potential visitors might require something a little more precise.

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 10:56 AMAfter spending countless thousands of pounds on raising the kerb on the junction of West Elloe Avenue and Pinchbeck Road which has caused lots of damage to large vehicles and buses ,some bright spark has come up with another bright idea " Lets make it level again " its only tax-payers money we are wasting and at least it gives us something to do and foul up the Spalding traffic flow again All Good Fun for the locals
