MORE than 50 tractors took a 28-mile tour around South Holland in the sunshine as part of a fundraising event on Sunday.

The third annual Moulton Tractor Rally attracted 54 tractors of all ages to the village on Sunday, which then took to the roads on a tour that took in Whaplode, Sutton St James, Holbeach St Johns, Moulton Chapel and Weston Hills.

The popular event, which also included a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses, supports the ongoing restoration project at Moulton Mill and pulled in £1,029 for the cause.

Organiser Paul Beecham said: “It went very well and I would like to say ‘thank you very much’ for the support we had for the businesses in the local area who gave us prizes.

“We have actually got ideas to make it even bigger and better.

“We had 54 tractors this year and we would look to the 70-mark next year and I would like to think we would get up to 100 for the fifth year.”

Paul hopes to raise £1,500 next time around and hopes to arrange for cake and plant stalls to go alongside the rally.
