A TOWN centre policing panel is to be disbanded after a plea for more people to get involved fell on deaf ears.
Spalding Town Centre Community Police Panel was the chance for members of the public and business people to have a say on policing issues and to shape police priorities.
It was due to meet next week but a plea in the Lincolnshire Free Press a few weeks ago asking for more people to come forward received no response and the meeting has now been cancelled.
Sgt Stuart Hurst said the panel will now been merged with the Spalding West panel, which meets quarterly for people living, working and running businesses in the west of the town.
He said: “It is disappointing that the town centre panel has had to be merged because I know there are a lot of people out there who do care about local policing and I am keen to involve them in local policing so we can work together.
“It was good to have a panel dedicated to the town centre to address the unique issues facing people and businesses there, but I am sure some good will come out of the merger.
“Members of the town centre policing team will still attend the meetings to answer any concerns alongside those of people in the west area.”
The next meeting will be in September.
