From Bourne to Whaplode Drove

Bourne United Reformed Church autumn fair will be in the church hall on Saturday, 10-11.30am. There will be a cake stall, raffle, tombola, Christmas stall, bric-a-brac and refreshments.


RAF Wyton Band will be holding ‘A night at the Proms’ at UA Holbeach, Crowland site, on Saturday, November 24. The chosen charities are Crowland Cares and Nene Valley Harriers. Tickets are £9 in advance, £12 on the door. Family ticket (two plus two) £27 or £36 on the door. All advance tickets must be paid for and collected by November 17. CROWLAND Lions are appealing for helpers for their fundraising Santa and his sleigh around Crowland on December 9, 15, 16 and 22. Contact Tony Cuthbert (01733 210340) for more details.

CROWLAND Cares holds its annual meeting on Thursday at the Methodist Church, 3.30pm until 6pm. Everyone welcome.

SATURDAY mornings in Crowland Methodist Church, doors open at 10am for coffee, tea and biscuits and the world is sorted out in friendly chat. If you are new to Crowland, please pop in.

Deeping St Nicholas

Prize bingo takes place on Thursday at 7pm in the Jubilee Hall in aid of Crowland Cancer Fund.


Royal British Legion members should meet at the parish church at 10.30am for the Remembrance Day Service on Sunday.

Gedney Drove End

REMEMBRANCE Service will be held at Christ Church, Dawsmere on Sunday at 9.30am followed by prayers and the laying of wreathes at the war memorial.

ROYAL British Legion annual meeting will take place at the Wildfowler on the Wash today at 7pm.

MONTHLY bingo is in the village hall tomorrow. Doors 6.45pm, eyes down at 7.30pm.

WELCOME Club will meet at the village hall on Thursday at 7.30pm for entertainment by ‘Sparks’. The competition will be for a poem about sunshine.


ON Tuesday, November 13, Gosberton Good Companion’s Club is having an outing to Leicester. Usual pick ups.

GOSBERTON Church Fellowship is in the church hall on Monday, November 19 at 7.30pm when there will be a speaker and refreshments.

GOSBERTON House Care Home is having an autumn charity fair on Saturday, 2.30-4.30pm. It is in support of the residents’ comforts fund, local Parkinsons Group, local Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Gosberton Patient Link. There will be a cake stall, bric-a-brac, raffle, 50/50, tombola, lucky tins and much more.

Gosberton Clough and Risegate

ALL the churches in the Gosberton Churches Together group, plus the village schools, are taking part in the operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal (Samaritan’s Purse). If anyone would like to donate gifts but cannot complete a full box these can be handed in to the parish churches and will be made up. Boxes should be handed in to either Julie Smith on 01775 821744 or leave at the Gosberton vicarage.

ROYAL British Legion services of Remembrance on Sunday start with a service at St Peter and St Paul’s Church at 9.45am followed by a service at the Gosberton war memorial in time for the 11am two minutes’ silence. A short service will take place at the Gosberton Risegate war memorial at 2pm.


HOLBEACH WI meets on the last Thursday of each month at the WI Hall, Park Road, when new members are welcome. The next meeting is on November 29 when members will be making Christmas decorations. For more information phone 01406 423321.


THE school’s Remembrance Service at the war memorial is on Friday, 10.50am for 11am. Everyone welcome. A parade will take place on Remembrance Sunday from the village hall at 10.30am for a 10.45am service at St Mary’s Church followed by wreath laying at the war memorial and then parade back to the village hall.

Welland Seniors’ Forum

WELLAND Seniors’ Forum meet on Tuesday, November 13, at Cowbit Village Hall at 2pm. Speaker will be Insp Chris Davison from Spalding police. ON Monday, November 19, Jean Bartle with her troupe of middle-aged tap dancers,The Mad Tappers and her keep fit ladies Bosom Friends will be entertaining the West Pinchbeck Church Ladies. The Church Ladies meet at the village hall for a 7.30pm start. Non-members are welcome and tickets are £2.50.

Whaplode Drove

OVER 50 people enjoyed the evening of entertainment featuring the Community Choir and friends at St John the Baptist Church. Thank you to Philip Bosworth, Pauline Marriott, Robert King, all members of the choir, Mary Stone and Brenda Blankley and all who helped to make the evening a success. Thanks also go to all who supported this concert and gave so generously, donating a total of £161 towards the refurbishment of the church room.
