The tour de Tydd came to South Holland with young cyclists spotted speeding around the course.

Youngsters at Tydd St Mary Pre-school chalked out a race track for youngsters to follow at its site in the Trafford Rooms, Common Way.

Between 15 and 20 children each whizzed around the track, which featured village landmarks such as the pub and primary school, five times before heading to the pit stop.

During the afternoon, parents and grandparents supported a coffee morning.

The event, estimated to raise more than £400, was organised to raise money for the group, which has received a good rating from Ofsted inspectors in December.

Leader Sheila Melton said: “The children absolutely loved it.

“Last year we did a Tour de France so we thought we’d make it local.”
