A Bourne newlywed was able to jet off on the dream honeymoon she never thought she could afford after winning £2,500 in a garage promotion.

Anna Grainger was preparing to tie the knot with Tim when she visited the town’s Bush garage for a new set of tyres, not thinking that the purchase would pave the way for a romantic getaway to remember.

After buying a set of Bridgestone tyres, she was entered into its Take a Break competition, only to beat hundreds of other motorists to scoop the headline prize.

She said: “I’ve only just got married so the £2,500 will help pay for the honeymoon we could only have dreamed of.

“We had agreed to have a weekend in Brighton but after winning this prize, we will be able to have a fabulous second honeymoon and I can’t wait to book it.

“I found out I had won a day before we got married, so it almost overshadowed the big day itself!

“I’m delighted to have won. It is an incredible prize and I’m absolutely thrilled. We agreed we couldn’t afford anywhere too exotic, so to win this competition is like the best wedding present imaginable.

“My husband loves America and I have never been, so he is looking forward to taking me there, as it was something we always talked about but couldn’t afford.

“It’s the perfect way to start married life.”

Bush Tyres’ manager Paul Burton said: “It was lovely to see Anna’s face when she won and to hear what it meant to her. She was getting married the day after she found out that she had won and said that this was the perfect present.

“We will certainly be looking to work with Bridgestone on more competitions like this in the future.

“There was an impressive uptake and the feedback we have received has been extremely positive.”

Bridgestone’s business development manager Phil Berry said: “We were delighted with the response to our Take a Break competition.

“We will be looking to launch similar sales incentives in the coming months and if we achieve the same uptake and levels of interest, then we’ll be as pleased as Anna and Tim, almost!”
