It was a bumper Christmas for Events and Entertainment Long Sutton (EELS) as 460 children received free presents from Santa Claus in their spectacular igloo grotto at the church hall.

The gift tally was 140 up on last year and organisers were thrilled by the turnout, which included more than 1,000 adults.

EELS chairman Jack Tyrrell said an eight-strong team spent eight hours building the grotto and its woodland surround and put on a children’s film to entertain those who patiently queued to see Santa

EELS also laid on children’s fairground rides outside St Mary’s.

Long Sutton and District Civic Society had their Christmas crafts and gifts fair at The Royal British Legion Hall.

And, over at Market House, there were lots of tempting treats from around 20 local food and drink suppliers.
