FACT: 152,000 people a year in the UK suffer a stroke.

FACT: One-in-four of those stroke victims dies within a year – the fourth largest single cause of death in this country.

FACT: Younger people can have a stroke – even children.

Many strokes could be avoided by regular blood pressure checks. Free checks by nurses will be available at the South Holland Centre in Spalding on Saturday, April 18. A doctor will also be present to offer advice.

The event is organised by the two Spalding Rotary Clubs – South Holland RC and Spalding and Welland RC. It is an annual free public service which over the past 10 years has identified many people needing treatment. Checks will take place from 9am to 3pm.
