“It will never work in Spalding,” where the words said to Andrew Clingo when he was looking at expanding his choir A Handful of Harmonies.

It had begun in Langtoft and Bourne, expanded into Deeping and the next step was Spalding, four years ago this month.

Clearly, whoever made that statement underestimated the enthusiasm of the ladies of Spalding.

It is a popular choir with some members of the other choirs who often visit Bromley Memorial Hall on a Friday afternoon at 1.30pm – especially when they have their tea and cakes.

The latest was to celebrate their fourth birthday, but as often is the case, the donations were made to charity. On this occasion one of the ladies who is recovering from breast cancer treatment is ‘being dressed by a child for a day’ for Breast Cancer and she was supported with £130 raised by the sale of the cakes.

The choir and Andrew would be delighted to welcome new members – no auditions needed and you don’t have to read music.
