YEAR 7 students at George Farmer Technology College in Holbeach certainly grasped the nettle when a special Your Community Your Vision day was held.

Guided by notable figures from the community, the children had to identify local landmarks, decide how to improve their community and plan their vision.

They then had to pitch their ideas to the panel of visitors, design a 3D version of an iconic structure they had designed for Holbeach and design a slogan for the town.

It is hoped their wish list will now be passed on to Holbeach Parish Council, with the aim of some of their dreams becoming reality.

Lincolnshire Free Press and Spalding Guardian editor Jeremy Ransome, who was one of the visitors on the day, said: “I was really bowled over by the enthusiasm, intelligence and good manners of the students.

“Some of the ideas, slogans and designs were really impressive.”
