We’ve all seen the articles on becoming healthier for the new year, but did you know that singing has beneficial effects?

According to South Holland Community Choir, singing is good for the heart, the moods, emotions and helps to aid relaxation as well as improving breath control, physical stamina and posture.

A Handful of Harmonies members are also discovering the benefits of singing, and so many of them meet regularly that choir director Andrew Clingo has moved sessions from the Ivo Day Centre in Spalding to the bigger Bromley Memorial Hall, on Bourne Road at Pode Hole.

South Holland Community Choir meets on Wednesday at St Thomas’s Chapel Schoolroom in Spalding (6.30pm to 8pm) and A Handful of Harmonies meets at Bromley Memorial Hall tomorrow (1.30pm to 3pm).
