The Inner Wheel Club of Spalding meets monthly at the Welland Yacht Club, generally on the second Thursday.

There are speakers – a pilot from the Red Arrows spoke about his career – meals out, and fundraising bottle stalls on the market.

Then there are many letters requesting financial help to be dealt with. Club secretary Linda Walters says these might be from Girl Guides going on expedition and calls for funds from all sorts of other causes both here and abroad.

The club raises hundreds of pounds every year to meet these requests for assistance.

Members also meet up with other clubs within the district, and some join the Inner Wheel Choir to perform carols locally at the Rotary Club’s Christmas party as well as their own.

New members are invited to attend: while the Spalding club accepts people not connected to Rotary, some clubs still insist on that connection. Find out more at associationofinnerwheelclubs.co.uk
