THE hunt is on for McMurphy – and you could be just who SADOS is looking for.
Spalding Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society (SADOS) is looking for an aspiring actor to take the lead role in its next production, One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest which is at the South Holland Centre in November.
Played by Jack Nicholson in the film version, Randle P McMurphy is a fast talking habitual criminal, who conspires to get himself out of a jail sentence by being diagnosed as schizophrenic, and is sent to a state mental hospital for assessment.
There he crosses swords with the formidable Nurse Ratched, who exercises total control over the inmates on the ward by exploiting their weaknesses.
McMurphy takes a bet with the patients that he can break her authority, not realising that his future, and his freedom lies entirely in her hands.
The ideal candidate for the role would be in his late 20s to 40s, and physically fit.
Acting experience would be a help but is not essential.
You must be prepared to rehearse every Tuesday night in Spalding, and be free on the evenings of November 18 to 24.
Martin Tyrrell, of SADOS, said: “We can promise no pay, but a great deal of hard work and a lot of fun.
“If you think you measure up to the task, contact the director, Brett Moore, on 07734 081929 or myself on 07785 618172.”
