West Pinchbeck mum Gemma Robinson and her friend Kirsty Casey received the gold award at the JDRF East of England awards held at Colchester.
The award was in recognition of the money raised by the pair at a ball they organised at the Caste Sports Complex in Spalding to raise money for JDRF, a charity looking for a cure for type 1 diabetes.
Gemma was invited to speak for ten minutes about her four-year-old daughter Faith, who was diagnosed with the disease when she was just two years old.
The ball raised a total of £7,500, most of which went to the charity, but £1,000 was donated to the diabetes team at the Pilgrim Hospital in Boston and some funds were kept for this year’s Halloween ball. The 2013 event is to be held on October 26 at the Castle Sports Complex. Tickets cost £45 and include a three-course meal, live band, disco and other entertainment.
