The 12.12 train from Spalding to Peterborough – the only one to take this route, having stopped at Doncaster, Lincoln and Boston – was photographed at Hawthorn Bank by David Mead in 1956.

The engine is a B17 class 4-6-0, numbered 61658, and named the Essex Regiment.

David says to the left of the track is covered by a housing development today.
