Young people determined to serve their community have been hard at work at a Spalding care home.

About 15 teenagers took part in a social action project, painting and putting down paving for a vegetable garden at Southfield House Care Home this week.

It marked the end of the group’s four-week placement as part of National Citizen Service, a scheme enabling 16 and 17-year-olds to develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills.

Group mentor Oliver Thompson (19) from Spalding said: “It’s been a very demanding week and we’ve done a lot of different activities, but I hope this week has given the group skills they can use in the future.” Photo: SG080813-121NG.
