Easter means everything to Holbeach couple Len (87) and Myrtle Ingle (82) who were surrounded by family members to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.
The couple of East Elloe Avenue first met at a fairground in Norwich on an Easter Monday shortly after World War II and spent three years getting to know each other before finally tying the knot.
Myrtle, a retired fruit picker, said: “We went out together for a year and a half, then got engaged on my 21st birthday and finally got married on June 20, 1953.
“I was 30 minutes late for the service but it was still a nice day and we’ve done most things together ever since.”
The Ingles, who have five children, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, believe the key to their long marriage is hard work and patience.
Myrtle said: “We get on very well, even though I’m from Norfolk and he’s from Lincolnshire.”
