FORTY-three members of Spalding Royal Naval Association returned to the Ship Albion, where the association was commissioned 50 years ago, to celebrate the anniversary.
The RNA president, Vice-Admiral John McAnally, presented members with their 50 years’ certificate and was presented with a branch tie. This was followed by a service at St John’s Church, where they were joined by other local associations, in which the standard was re-dedicated.
Poor weather meant association members cancelled the planned parade to church and march past after the service. Instead, members retired to Spalding Services and Social Club for “tea and stickies” in what Spalding RNA president Terry Carter called “naval parlance”.
