SPALDING tandem bike rider Trudy Thurston has raised money for Cancer Research in the latest sporting endeavour in memory of her mother Maureen, who died in 2009.

Trudy (30), of Horseshoe Road, and her father Adrian cycled 25 miles, from Spalding to Crowland and back, before recovering with a tea party with friends and family.

This isn’t the first time Trudy, who has learning difficulties, has pushed herself to raise funds for Cancer Research. Last year Trudy raised £344 after cycling 20 miles and in 2009 she raised a similar amount after completing a triathlon, swimming ten lengths of the Castle Swimming Pool before heading out on a 10-mile bike ride to West Pinchbeck and finishing with a one-mile run. She was joined at that time by her father and some of her support workers.
