WARTIME spirit returned to Spalding on Saturday with the swinging sounds of a 1940s big band.
Almost 200 people turned out to enjoy the music from 17-piece band Mainline as the event came to Springfields Events Centre for the first time.
Guests donned their finest outfits and military uniforms to look the part as they took a step back in time at the centre, which had been decorated with camouflage and a selection of memorabilia. Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Food had offered afternoon tea and cake as part of the celebrations.
David Norton, from Springfields, said: “I was surprised at the number of people who made the effort to dress up in the 1940s theme. We also had meeters and greeters in uniform to get people in the mood as well.”
The event also raised £50 for Help for Heroes with the raffle of a bomber teddy bear.
