A sea themed concert in Surfleet Parish Church raised money for the Mission to Seafarers and Swineshead Silver Band.

There were sea-themes decorations and the band played to around 40 guests at 4pm before the pre-Sunday service at 5:30pm.

Church Warden, Annette Rhodes, said: “People did enjoy it, although we had to relocate the venue right at the last minute.

“The concert is usually at the Reservoir, but work is currently being done on the sluice gates.”

The band is self fundraising and often plays at indoor concerts and church services, yet this is the first time the band have played at St Laurence’s in Surfleet.

The event was organised by local churches from around Gosberton and Surfleet. Tea and cake was provided as refreshments.

The Mission to Seafarers provides a wide range of support for seafarers worldwide.

The next event for the church is on Saturday (July 30) where the Kirton Brass Band will be playing. Starting at 7:30pm, tickets cost £8, which includes entry and refreshments. All proceeds to St Laurence Church.
