YOUNGSTERS in Sutton Bridge could be transported to youth clubs in Holbeach or Spalding in a bid to give them somewhere to go following the closure of the village club.
The youth club shut suddenly when Lincolnshire County Council pulled its funding, leaving youngsters with nowhere to go.
At a meeting of Sutton Bridge Parish Council, Coun Michael Booth said something needs to be done to get the youth club up and running again, but that in the short term it had been suggested that a coach was provided to take the youngsters to another club.
He said: “That is going to cost money but the portfolio holder of place for Sutton Bridge has a budget which he would be willing to use part of.”
Coun Booth said it has been suggested that section 106 money could possibly be used to refurbish the building, which at the moment cannot be used for anything other than a youth club because of a ten-year lease.
He added: “We don’t want the building to stand there deteriorating when we need a youth club.”
Coun Booth said the equipment has been taken to Spalding but could be brought back again if and when the club restarts.
He added: “We are looking to meet with the youngsters to find out what they want.”
Coun John Grimwood said there is a possibility of using the British Legion hall in the interim.
