Joanna Hillier says she had no symptoms leading up to her diagnosis of having a brain tumour in 2011.

The small lump appeared at the side of her head in 2008 and, unusual for her, Joanna had suffered a couple of migraines late in 2010. However, she put that down to being busy and stressful – as well as the approach of Christmas, there was Joanna and Graham’s wedding, Joanna’s 40th, plus the demands of work and a busy house – including Aimee (19), Nicole (17), Lucy (12) and Hannah (10).

When she saw the specialist at Queens Medical Centre he asked if she had noticed a change in personality, and although Joanna said she hadn’t, Graham said he had but had put it down to everything that was going on in their lives.
