School will soon be out for summer – and what a summer of fun it’s going to be across South Holland.
With forecasters predicting more fine weather, a day at the seaside may be in order, but there are only so many sandcastles you can build and icecreams you can eat.
So, if you are looking for something closer to home to keep0 the kids occupied during the long summer break, look no further than South Holland’s own Summer Fun 2013 programme.
Pick up a leaflet packed full of days out, open events and activities to try, there really is something to suit all tastes – and budgets.
All summer long, libraries across the district are offering summer reading challenges for four to 11 year olds.
At Spalding, Pinchbeck and Donington libraries for example, the challenge has a Creepy House theme and participants are invited to read six books, collecting stickers as they go and receiving a certificate at the end.
Other summer long activities include an introduction to outdoor bowls, taekwondo, table tennis, football and a blacksmith experience at Chain Bridge Forge.
Summer Fun brochures, which list all the available activities and a booking form, were given to all schoolchildren, but can be picked up at libraries and various other outlets now.
